About Keepers of the Circle

Keepers of the Circle is an Indigenous Hub operated by the Temiskaming Native Women’s Support Group (TNWSG), a non-profit organization founded in 1997. The organization is dedicated to promoting the economic, cultural, and social equity of Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse peoples.

About the Role

Keepers of the Circle is seeking Program Practitioners to deliver and support the Culture, Confidence, and Competence (CCC) pre-employment training program. CCC is a culturally rooted, trauma-informed program designed by and for Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse people. The program is delivered both in person and online through strong community partnerships.

Program Practitioners are responsible for facilitating the CCC curriculum, which focuses on personal and professional development, and for supporting participants in developing and implementing individualized training plans. Working collaboratively with other Program Practitioners and Partnership Coordinators, this role supports participants in transitioning from program participation to meaningful post-training employment or placement opportunities aligned with their goals.

Program Practitioners must demonstrate cultural competence and the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with individuals who have lived experience. This role may require travel to facilitate in-community sessions for periods ranging from 7 to 10 weeks, depending on program needs.

This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) based out of our training centre in Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Facilitate the delivery of the Culture, Confidence, and Competence (CCC) pre-employment program to participants in both in-person (on site or in community) and virtual settings

·         Support participants in developing individualized training plans aligned with their goals and strengths

·         Work collaboratively within a team environment alongside staff and Elders, including co-facilitating group discussions grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and learning

·         Provide one-on-one and group support through mentoring, coaching, and culturally responsive interventions to address barriers as they arise

·         Assess participant strengths and needs, and connect participants to appropriate internal and external program referrals and supports

·         Support participants with resume development, interview preparation, and job readiness skills

·         Coach participants in effective job search strategies and support access to relevant employment and training resources

·         Provide guidance on inclusive workplace practices and reasonable accommodations, including supports for participants with disabilities

·         Provide ongoing mentorship and follow-up support to participants post-training, as needed, to support job retention and success

·         Maintain accurate case notes, participant records, and documentation of progress, and complete required reports in accordance with program and funder requirements

Requirements

·         Non-judgmental, inclusive, and respectful approach to working with participants

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills, with comfort facilitating and presenting to groups

·         Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and facilitation skills

·         Ability to apply critical thinking to support and guide group discussions

·         Experience working within Indigenous communities or community-based settings

·         Experience as a job coach, mentor, or facilitator is considered an asset

·         Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

·         Demonstrated respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion

·         Trauma-informed training or experience is considered an asset

·         Willingness and ability to travel to communities for extended periods (approximately 7–10 weeks) as required for in-community facilitation

We strongly encourage applicants to self-identify if they are of Indigenous ancestry or are a community affiliate.
