About Keepers of the Circle

Keepers of the Circle is an Indigenous Hub operated by the Temiskaming Native Women’s Support Group (TNWSG), a non-profit organization founded in 1997 to promote the economic, cultural, and social equity of Indigenous women, girls, and gender diverse people.

 

About the Role

Keepers of the Circle is looking to recruit an experienced Marketing Coordinator to support with recruitment, promotion, and outreach for the “Building in Four Directions” project under the Sustainable Jobs Training Fund Program through Employment and Social Development Canada. This project is focused on designing and delivering hands-on green construction training to Indigenous and other equity-deserving communities through mobile trades trailers paired with live virtual training. The goal of the project is to build capacity for new entrants to take on roles in the green economy. The Marketing Coordinator [BG1] will oversee the outreach, promotion and recruitment of participants for three (3) green construction skills training programs that will be delivered at a national level over the next three years.

 

The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for creating and executing the marketing and promotional strategy for this project to recruit training participants and engage in partnership development with employers and communities. This includes creating marketing materials, holding info sessions and presentations in Indigenous communities, and mapping out opportunities to scale activities nationally.

 

This is a fully remote role, with some travel to Indigenous communities for outreach and recruitment activities. Preference is for the candidate to be located in Northern Ontario.

 

Roles and Responsibilities Include:

 

Marketing, Promotion, and Recruitment (50%)

·         Plan, develop, and execute marketing campaigns across digital, print, and social channels;

·         Coordinate promotional activities, including email marketing and advertising;

·         Creation of marketing materials to promote the training programs, including but not limited to social media graphics, flyers, newsletters, and billboards;

·         Developing and delivering presentation about trainings;

·         Maintenance of website pages related to this project, including updating website with new information, photos, and success stories when needed;

·         Collaborate with Keeper’s Communication Team to implement social media and newsletter strategy;

·         Monitor and report on campaign performance and metrics to adapt content strategy and improve performance;

·         Support the planning and logistics of marketing events, such as webinars or community info sessions;

·         Manage marketing budget and work with the Project Coordinator to track invoices and expenditures;

·         Prepare reports and presentations on marketing performance and strategy in relation to this project;

·         Conduct research on marketing channels, marketing trends, competitors, and customer behaviour;

·         Assist with knowledge dissemination of project outcomes and best practices, including branding and publishing case studies;

·         Assist Keeper’s Intake Coordinator to conduct assessments and intake of program participants;

 

Community Outreach (50%)  

·         Assist with mapping out provincial and national industry partners, organizations, and communities to engage with for project activities;

·         Conduct research on potential partners and communities to tailor outreach strategy and activities;

·         Assist with the development of an outreach strategy for Indigenous communities and other relevant organizations to promote hosting trainings in their community;

·         Collaborate with Keeper’s Partnership Team to execute outreach strategy and build and maintain meaningful partnership opportunities with Indigenous communities across Canada;

·         Track participation and gather community feedback to improve outreach efforts;

·         Prepare reports to demonstrate impact of outreach initiatives and activities;

 

 

Requirements

·         1-3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations role, with a proven track record in digital and traditional marketing;

·         Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and design software (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite);

·         Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail;

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

·         Strong interpersonal skills;

·         Comfortable presenting to varied group, including professional audiences and community members with diverse backgrounds;

·         Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment;

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, mission-focused team;

·         Experience working with Indigenous or other equity-deserving communities;

·         Knowledge of traditional and cultural protocols to engage with Indigenous communities;

·         G license and access to a vehicle;

·         Knowledge of equity-focused or workforce development programs is a strong asset;

·         Familiarity with the skilled trades and sustainability is an asset;
