The Corporation of the Town of Kirkland Lake is seeking a
Facility Operator
Permanent / Full-Time / Unionized
Position Overview:
The Facility Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of recreation facilities in the Town of Kirkland Lake. Main duties in the winter include maintenance of the ice surface, logbook entries, refrigeration and HVAC checks, facility maintenance, custodial duties, and snow removal. In the summer months, duties include ball field, playground, park and green space maintenance, facility maintenance and custodial duties. The Operator will work outside in all seasons of the year ensuring quality and safety in recreational spaces.
· Hours of work: Up to 40 hours per week but must be prepared to work outside of regular working hours as necessary. This position includes shift work and weekend work.
· Compensation: As per Collective Agreement $26.71 to start and $27.90 after 6 months of continuous employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Successful completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
· Ontario “G” Class Driver’s License in good standing.
· Janitorial experience is preferred.
· Must be a team player with excellent customer service and communication skills.
· Must be physically fit and able to perform all activities in the work environment (heavy lifting, working from heights, kneeling, bending, etc...).
· Must have or be willing to obtain the following certifications:
o Basic Refrigeration
o Fall Arrest
o Propane Handling
o Elevating Platforms
o Standard First Aid/CPR certification.
· Must provide clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
